During the last edition of MWC Barcelona, the i2CAT Foundation participated in some of the most successful demonstrations that took place at the congress.

The 5G connected ambulance pilot, presented by the Government of Catalonia and the Emergency Medical System of Catalonia (SEM), caught the attention of the TV channel CNBC. Karen Tso explored how 5G technology could be used to revolutionise ambulances in Barcelona and interviewed Mr. Jordi Puigneró, Minister for Digital Policy and Public Administration and President of i2CAT.

The 5G connected ambulance was also covered by the two main daily newspapers in Spain, El País and El Mundo, as well as many other local and international media.

Other pilots, like the connected car and assisted driving use cases via 5G in a real environment, a project by Telefónica, SEAT, Mobile World Capital Barcelona, Ficosa, ETRA and i2CAT (with the support of CTTC and UPC), also sparked strong interest. Some of the media to test it live were El Mundo, Diari Ara or Reuters.
