AEROFOR, Educaires, the Government of Catalonia and the i2CAT Foundation took part in the meeting in Sweden, which focused on the analysis of the drone sector throughout Europe

On March 3rd and 4th, six European regions held the first interregional meeting of the European project Aerial Uptake in Linköping (Sweden). The meeting was attended by stakeholders from the participating regions, including two representatives of Catalonia Smart Drones members: Eduard Ruiz-Olivares, CEO of AEROFOR Enterprise SL, and Lot Amorós, from the Educaires association. The Government of Catalonia and the i2CAT Foundation also attended as members of the project consortium.

RI.SE (Research Institutes of Sweden) hosted the meeting’s first day at Linköping University. Attendees took part in activities and workshops to analyze the drone sector in each region. As part of this study, the project partners presented the results of their first stakeholder meetings (RSG meetings) and territorial analysis surveys, as well as the use cases collected.

Catalonia gained special recognition for the proactivity of the community members and their high participation rates in surveys,  especially among the general public.

This first interregional meeting ended with a study visit to the Swedish company MainBase‘s premises and presentations by representatives of the Wallenberg Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Systems and Software Program and the Drone Center Sweden.

The results of the meeting will be presented to the Catalan drone community at the 2nd RSG meeting, which was scheduled for April 2nd but has been postponed due to COVID-19. In the meantime, questionnaires for drone companies, academia and the general public are still open.
