WiNNOVATE Project: Mediterranean Innovation Wireless

WiNNOVATE aims to strengthen the innovation capacity of regional and municipal authorities in Greece, Spain, Italy and Slovenia by transferring knowledge and best practices in the field of wireless communications. Besides trying to promote coordination between government, citizens and catalytic agents in the introduction and proliferation of wireless applications and services.

More specifically, the project aims to enhance the wireless infrastructure (local and metropolitan), and identify pilot projects that will add value to the infrastructure of benefit to end users.

Will define a road map for the introduction and use of innovative wireless networking and to offer any service, the purpose of this guide is to enhance innovation capacity in any region Med using wireless technologies.

This project has taken into account the challenge of integrating research, business and government (at regional and local) within the same project.

Elements of innovation and research more relevant

The main results of the project are:

• Get a reusable approach to be able to assess and guide regional, national and transnational to innovation in wireless networks.
• The establishment of pilot tests in each participating region.
• After evaluating the results achieved in the pilots.
• Finally, generate a set of recommendations.

Industrial and/or social benefits resulting from the project

The results of this project is to develop completely new services and products using the advantages offered by wireless networks, giving the final project and a series of interim targets for pilot demonstration of the feasibility of them.
