VISIÓN

The scope of the project is to develop a new generation of communication systems being able to produce a real sense of presence on the users, so users separated by long distances would perceive the sense of being physically both in the same place (face to face) through the communication networks.

Elements of innovation and research more relevant

I2CAT’s activities are focussed on:

  • Defining which elements from network architecture involved in the project (TISPAN architecture) are significant on multipoint communications.
  • Obtaining a software tool which be able to replicate high-speed multimedia flows.
  • Developing an element, integrated into IMS environment, being able to signal multipoint sessions with different advanced flows and manage several replicators for its optimal distribution.

Industrial and/or social benefits resulting from the project

VISION’s objectives will manage to break the distance gap which holds up smoothly relationships. Collaborative working between experts will be possible without tired travels, being able to share their knowledge as they would be present in the same room. Enjoying best artists if they never visit your city will become real using VISION solutions. Or joining families who are separated by thousand miles.

VISION’s research lines covers from 3D scenes capture, codification, transmission, reconstruction and visualization to quality of services, semantic recognition and tagging. Enterprises which lead these fields will hold a competitive advantage and it will be possible to obtain some patents.
