The SegureHealth project consists of developing a safe system to locate patients in a health centre environment. The system will also inform about a patient leaving the health centre without any permission or when leaving from a centre's specific area, offering a protection system for those patients with memory problems o other mental disorders. It will also provide the patient's physic location inside the health centre, as well as the patient's trajectory and the time spent in each service or department (operating theatre, resuscitation, radiology, rehabilitation, etc.), allowing additionally a resource planning according to the centre's established parameters.
Elements of innovation and research more relevant
As a project's result, a prototype will be created and evaluated in a service of the 'Hospital de Mataró', with the goal of validating it in its application framework, that is, in the hospital's computerized medical prescription system . Once the goals are achieved, the SegureHealth system will be able to guarantee the personal identification in the key processes of the patient's treatment. This authentication will be available in all cases, including unconscious and semi-unconscious patients, in order to reduce to the utmost the grave errors related to location and authentication absence. Also, in the cases the patient's location control is critical, specially for patients with mental health diseases, the system will be able to reduce the patient's escape probability.
Industrial and/or social benefits resulting from the project
The technological proposal used to stand up these requirements will use active RFID technology and the deployment of a MESH nodes network, which will stand up the real-time location rate, tracking services and establishment of alerts when a patient accesses a controlled zone.
Current project status
Currently, the project is in its deployment stage.
