The FURIA project aims at promoting research and development of emergent technologies for the broadcasting of audiovisual contents to fixed and mobile terminals. All this is achieved thanks to a Spanish consortium of 27 entities disposed to realize contributions to standardization bodies and industry fora, like DVB, in order to elaborate and build technical proposals for the future of Digital Video Broadcasting.
Elements of innovation and research more relevant
i2CAT’s activity is focused on the following tasks.
- WP1-SWP1 (DVB-H Physical and Link Layer): study about the evolution of the current standard toward NGH.
- WP3-SWP1 (DVB-T2): focused on development, simulation and implementation of the new digital terrestrial television standard.
Keywords
DVB-T2, MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output), channel estimation.Industrial and/or social benefits resulting from the project
In the project framework, i2CAT takes part in WP3-SWP1 (DVB-T2). The main objective is to schedule in an optimum way deployment, benefits and limits of the new generation of Digital Terrestrial Television (DVB-T2 standard). This technology is especially suitable for the transmission of high definition video to terminals in movement (vehicles, trains, etc.).
