HPDMnet
On 27th October 2009 in the 9th Annual Global LambdaGrid Workshop in Daejeon, Korea, a demonstration of the HPDMnet was performed. HPDMnet is an international consortium of universities and research institutions building a new infrastructure in support of emerging classes of digital media, including high definition (HD), multi-point to multi-point HD, 4k/8k media, scientific visualization, and extremely high resolution imaging. The demonstration showed a 3D high-resolution visualization being streamed in real time from North America to Daejeon.
I2CAT is a partner of HPDMnet since the beginning of the project and has participated in all the demonstrations that have been performed. One of the main benefits of HPDMnet is that it opens possible innovation areas which could be really important for the future of the industrial networks and technologies; those areas include: provision of prototype services, offer high performance digital media services for high quality and design new generation networks.
