Audiovisual Cluster
The i2CAT project is working towards the convergence of the new Internet and the audiovisual sector, which is of strategic importance in Catalonia. i2CAT looks to a video and graphic computation network as being the Internet of the future.
In this cluster, the focus is on developing technologies that will make the Internet a platform for video in all formats. Its activities include the following:
- Creating broadband audiovisual portals
- Providing video services on broadband networks
- Experimenting with high-quality video formats (MPEG2 and Raw)
- High-quality videoconference services
- Custom-made interfaces and intelligent searches for multimedia resources
- Television in real time and in almost real time
- Distributing films on the Internet
- Distributed production
- Intelligent searches
- Meta searches and intelligent interfaces resulting in tailor-made content
- Copyright protection (content ownership)
- Technical and commercial evaluation of services
