Agreement for boosting the eHealth Patient Portal

Agreement between i2cat and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu for boosting the eHealth Patient Portal

Shortly after having released the innovative initiative Hospital Liquid, the Hospital Sant Joan de Deu in collaboration with the eHealth and eInclusion Area of i2cat, bets on the implementation of the so-called eHealth Patient Portal, which expects to follow the new health care model proposed by the Hospital Liquid: extending patient care beyond the hospital physical limits, as well as promoting knowledge exchange among professionals.

Taking into account the recent explosion of mobile devices sales and increasingly competitive Internet access services, 2014 is presented as a year in which the eHealth services will become more and more accessible to the citizens. Thus, both companies have signed an agreement to work together in order to increase the number of users that benefit from this service, as well as to make it available to other medical specialties and health professionals, who will include these tools in different health services and processes offered to citizens.

Thanks to the accessibility and the potential provided by the Internet, the eHealth Portal can offer a personalized health service, providing to users many information and services, from clinical and monitoring reports, personal information, health contents and treatment guidelines, to features for programming teleconsultation, email and video conferencing.

This service will allow unifying the communication channel between patient and doctor, guaranteeing a provision of health information, that will be adequate and personalized to the patient needs, as well as having a more exhaustive registration of doctor and patient interaction. These benefits will allow an available resources optimization and the resulting costs reduction, and improving the patient care quality.
